AJ Michalka Signs on for Lovely Bones

AJ Michalka has signed on for the movie, Lovely Bones! She will play Clarissa, the best friend of 14-year-old Susie Salmon.

Salmon, played by Irish actress Saoirse Ronan, is raped and murdered and, from the afterlife, watches how her family and friends are affected.

Michalka, 16, is one half of teen pop duo Aly and AJ with her sister Alyson Michalka.

“It’s like a dream role. I was flipping out (when I heard I won the part). I’m really, really stoked,” she told MTV.

She was also pleased that she would be working with Ryan Gosling, nominated for a best actor Oscar this year for Half Nelson and who will play Susie’s father, Jack Salmon.

“I have a really emotional, intense, freaky scene with Ryan. It’s gonna be crazy.

“He was so incredible in Half Nelson. It’s just great for me as an actress to grow and work with such amazing people. The whole cast is amazing. Peter (Jackson) - he’s amazing. It’s gonna be cool. It’s gonna be really cool.”

I’m so excited! That was a great book and will be an even better movie.
