Camp Rock Scoop - The KISS, The Message, and More!
With less than a month to wait until the premiere of Camp Rock, it’s time for some more scoop!! Channel Guide sat down with the Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato, and Alyson Stoner to get the lowdown.
How was it determined that Joe would get the lead role in the movie?
“It was determined through an auditioning process,” Joe says. “I auditioned first for the role of Shane. They worked the movie to work better as a band because, as you know, it’s different for us to work maybe alone, so we wanted to keep it together, of course. It’s very cool to be Connect Three in the movie.”
And of course the film has a theme! “It’s a really amazing message that all kids can relate to,” Joe continues. “Everyone, I think, goes to camp or something like camp or even like school - where you realize how you are trying to fit in with the cool crowd. I know I did when I was growing up. Even at camp, I definitely wanted to hang out with the cool kids. The movie shows you can be who you are. You can hang out with the friends you are comfortable with.”

Kevin agrees. “For us, it’s about staying true to who you are as a person. Never giving in to that.”
Demi chimes in version of the theme. “The theme of the movie is to be yourself and not worry about being popular. That’s what I had to worry about in middle school. I was always worried about being popular. Wow, if I had a chance to do it over again, I’d so rather be a nerd than be popular — it’s so much less stressful and you can be yourself.”
So what happened to the KISS between Mitchie (Demi Lovato) and Shane (Joe Jonas?
“You know, it was so funny,” Joe says. “It was rumored that there was a kiss in the movie, but there’s no kiss. Demi does a great job. I definitely did practice my acting, not so much a kiss, but definitely the acting because it was so different for us.”
Demi has her own story. “I don’t know, you’ll have to find out. Maybe there’s outtakes.”

If there is no kiss then y were people saying Demi said “We both popped breath mints.” (refering to her and Joe)

hey just saying i wish there was a kiss in th emovie it would be even more cool oh and even though demi is 15 and joe is 18 they should date but its their choice not ours and we should not judge wat we want to see in a picture but any ways i luv them both oh yeah and nick and kevin too! rock on
