MTV has an exclusive look at Bandslam, starring Aly Michalka and Vanessa Hudgens!

Teenager Will Burton (Gaelan Connell) lives in his head, and his head is filled with music. When his mother gets a new job in New Jersey, Will starts his junior year at a new school only to find the old cliques still apply, but rock-n-roll rules the scene.

Perpetually a misfit, Will strikes up a friendship with like-minded outsider Sa5m (Vanessa Hudgens). They are both surprised when the school’s “it” girl, Charlotte (Aly Michalka) recruits Will to help assemble a band to compete in “Bandslam,” a battle of the bands that is “Texas High School Football BIG.” Charlotte’s ex-boyfriend Ben Wheatly (Scott Porter) is poised to win with his band Glory Dogs - Springsteen wannabes down to their hats. For the first time in his life, Will finds he is uniquely suited to not only participate in something, but to truly make a difference.

Bandslam follows gifted singer-songwriter Charlotte Banksasks (Aly Michalka) as she asks new kid in town Will Burton (Gaelan Connell) to manage her fledgling rock band. But Charlotte appears to have just one goal in mind: go head-to-head against her egotistical musician ex-boyfriend at the biggest event of the year, a battle of the bands.

Against all odds, their band develops a sound all its own with a real shot at success in the contest. Meanwhile, romance brews between Will and Sa5m (Hudgens), who plays a mean guitar and has a voice to die for.

Bandslam will be in theaters on Friday, August 14th.

‘Beastly’ is an edgy teen romance about learning how to see past false surfaces to discover true inner beauty. Kyle Kingson (Alex Pettyfer) has it all – looks, intelligence, wealth and opportunity – and a wicked cruel streak. Prone to mocking and humiliating “aggressively unattractive” classmates, he zeroes in on Goth classmate Kendra, inviting her to the school’s extravagant environmental bash. Kendra accepts, and, true to form, Kyle blows her off in a particularly savage fashion. She retaliates by casting a spell that physically transforms him into everything he despises. Enraged by his horrible and unrecognizable appearance he confronts Kendra and learns that the only solution to the curse is to find someone that will love him as he is – a task he considers impossible.

Repulsed by his appearance, Kyle’s callous father banishes him to Brooklyn with a sympathetic housekeeper and blind tutor. As Kyle ponders how to overcome the curse and get his old life back, he chances upon a drug addict in the act of killing a threatening dealer. Seizing the opportunity, Kyle promises the addict freedom and safety for his daughter, Lindy (Vanessa Hudgens) if she will consent to live in Kyle’s Brooklyn home. Thus begins Kyle’s journey to discover true love in this hyper-modern retelling of the classic ‘Beauty and the Beast’ story.

Vanessa Hudgens admits that she is a huge fan of horror films … when she’s got a pal to watch them with!

Vanessa says she rarely gets to see her favorite movies now that she’s living alone in her new house.

“I love scary movies but recently, not so much,” explains Vanessa. “I live by myself now so if I watched a scary film I would not be able to go to sleep. So I need to have someone there with me.”

What kind of films does she enjoy? Classics like The Exorcist and Poltergeist.

Vanessa Hudgens and Alex Pettyfer, costars of Beastly, chat with ET about the film!

“It’s a lot of fun, she’s kind of the beauty of the story but not the stereotypical beauty that everyone thinks of,” Vanessa reveals.

Alex says that his character is obsessed with his own vanity and can’t see the real beauty in his life.

“I’m not sure if I actually kissed him in his beast state. I actually, still to this day, have not seen him in his beast costume because they’re saving it as a surprise for me so the reaction is genuine,” Vanessa says. “So I still don’t know what to expect.”

The film, which will be released next year, is a modern-day take on the “Beauty and the Beast” tale where a New York teen is transformed into a hideous monster in order to find true love.

Vanessa Hudgens is gearing up for her role in her new film, Sucker Punch, and she’s having to gear up for her stunts!

“I am extremely excited,” Vanessa reveals. “I had my stunt evaluation the other day and it was basically learning how to throw the correct punches and all these kicks and craziness that I never knew how to do.

By the end of the day Vanessa was was going back and forth with someone — kicking, punching, kicking, punching. “Then he would have to come back at me and I would have to block it. Then the next day I felt so bad. I have never been so sore in my life. I love it but it was ridiculous.”

Vanessa is very excited about the film. “I kept telling everyone, ‘I want to do an action film.’ But they were like, ‘Maybe in a few years.’ So I’m like, ‘Ha, in your face. I am doing one now!’”

Sucker Punch, which isn’t set to release until 2011, follows a young girl who is institutionalized by her wicked stepfather. Retreating to an alternative reality as a coping strategy, she envisions a plan which will help her escape from the facility.

Vanessa Hudgens stars in another Neutrogena commercial, released this week!

Vanessa stars in Bandslam, which opens August 14th. She recently revealed she sang Amy Winehouse at the audition to sound “hardcore”.

She revealed, “I completely forgot about the fact that I’d have to sing a song and I go and they’re like ‘ok we want to hear you do something’ and I’m like oh ‘oops’ and they said they actually have someone to play the piano and some sheet music you can look through so I find Rehab. I’m like ‘I guess I’ll sing Rehab - that’ll make me seem hardcore right?’“

Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens were spotted arriving into LAX airport this afternoon. Vanessa was wearing a red Dr. Slump “Arale” cap with white wings on the sides as she filmed the scene around her.

Zac is set to present Ben Stiller with this year’s MTV Movies Generation Award at the MTV movie awards in Los Angeles on May 31.
