Destiny Hope Cyrus was born on November 23, 1992. She was nicknamed Miley from being so smiley!! Miley Cyrus is best known as an actress, singer, and songwriter – and stars as Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana on the show Hannah Montana.
Miley Cyrus - Biography
Miley Cyrus was born in Franklin Tennessee (a suburb of Nashville). Her parents are Billy Ray Cyrus and Leticia “Tish” Cyrus. Miley has two older half-brothers (Christopher Cody and Trace), an older half-sister (Brandi), a younger brother (Braison) and a younger sister (Noah Lindsey).
Her parents named her Destiny Hope because they thought she would accomplish great things. They were right! Of course then she went and changed her name to Miley Ray!
Miley Cyrus - Career
Miley Cyrus began her interest in acting when she and her family lived in Toronto when she was nine. Her first acting gig was on her dad’s television series Doc. She played a girl named Kylie. She had other parts, including the role of “Young Ruthie” in Big Fish.
When she was twelve years old Miley Cyrus was chosen to star in her current Hannah Montana role (after being told she looked too young the year before). She then got to audition her dad, Billy Ray, to play Hannah Montana’s dad.
In 2006 Miley Cyrus performed her first Hannah Montana concert in Orlando. She spent the remainder of 2006 as an opening act for the Cheetah Girls. Miley also released the Hannah Montana soundtrack with eight songs that she performed in that role. She also signed a four-album record deal with Hollywood Records for her own albums.
In 2007 Miley Cyrus had a brief cameo in High School Musical 2 right before the end credits. She also released a double album, Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus. The first disc was a Hannah Montana soundtrack and the second disc was Miley’s debut album as herself.
Miley is currently filming Hannah Montana: The Movie (set to air in 2009) and she provides the voice of Penny in the upcoming animated film, Bolt.
Miley also is preparing to launch her latest album, Breakout. This is the first album where she is without her alter-ego, Hannah Montana.
