Inside Scoop on the High School Musical 3 Costumes!
February 25, 2009 by Nikki Katz

I recently had the chance to chat with Caroline B. Marx, the costume designer for High School Musical 3! She told me all about her inspiration for the various characters and their outfits, how she made them stand out from each other, where she got the clothes, and spilled some tips for prom season!
“You can definitely look at Sharpay for color,” Caroline says. “I think the metallics are really big. You can see that in the silver, the cobalt blue and the fuchsia. I think those are huge colors.”
She says there is definitely an 80s influence as well. “The side tie or the knotting the t-shirts on the side, or the preppy look. Definitely they are pulling the collars up. Definitely the old-school Madonna, a lot of the loggings, multiple strands of pearls, the bangles, the rubber bracelets as seen on Martha. Definitely use lots of pins on Olesya’s jackets, blazers and vests. That was 80s inspired. I used really long scarves that come down to the knee, that’s a big trend that’s going on right now. Monique with her little tie was kind of cute. Zac with the skinny jeans and the fitted t-shirts, are definitely big, along with the skinny ties. Ryan with the military stripes that go down the side of his legs, and the fedoras.”
“Individuality is the big thing, enhancing your personality. Primarily that’s where I went with this.”

February 11, 2009 by Nikki Katz

In celebration of the February 17th release of High School Musical 3: Senior Year on DVD and Blu-ray, we’ve been given some of the hottest secrets from the set of the movie!! Read some of the inside scoop from behind-the-scenes of the film:
HOME SWEET HOME!
Lucas Grabeel was the only cast member to rent an apartment in Salt Lake City, where the film was shot. The rest of the cast were split between the city’s Little America Hotel and the swankier Grand America, where Zanessa, Ashley and Chris Warren Jr put up their feet. Nice!
EXTRA, EXTRA!
What extras are in store for fans on the HSM3 DVD? “There’s a lot going on there,” admits director Kenny Ortega. “There is a musical reprise for Troy and Gabriella, as well as a couple of deleted scenes that have been added back to the movie. One big deleted scene was taken out because we had to shorten the film for the movie theatre – but there are other scenes we’ve added just for fun.”
