Meaghan Jette Martin stars in the new ABC Family series, 10 Things I Hate About You! The show premieres tonight at 8:00/7:00 Central

The show is based on a 1999 high school film version of The Taming of the Shrew with Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles.

In 10 Things Kat (Lindsey Shaw) and her younger sister, Bianca (Meaghan Martin), are new to Padua High School, and they have very different goals. Kat, a surly rebel, wants to be left alone, while Bianca, pretty and conventional, yearns to be popular — which means joining the pep squad and befriending the head cheerleader, Chastity (Dana Davis), who is rich, spoiled and mean.

A cute, slightly geeky sophomore, Cameron James (Nicholas Braun), takes one look at Bianca and falls in love. Larry Miller, who played Dr. Walter Stratford in the movie, is back as the strict father who won’t allow Bianca to date until Kat does. And if that isn’t enough to thwart Bianca’s social ambitions, Kat clashes with Chastity on the first day of school. Watching Kat leave, Chastity turns to Bianca and says huffily, “I swear, they will let anyone into public school.”

Kat also gets off to a hostile start with Patrick (Ethan Peck), a handsome boy with a smoldering look and an unsavory reputation so mysterious and scary that no one in school will go near him.

Meaghan Jette Martin had her first performance on Sunday afternoon, performing at Penn’s Landing’s Fam Jams concert along with the Naked Brothers Band.

Meaghan jammed for half an hour, despite being sick. She tweeted, earlier, “I have now been placed on “vocal rest”- that means I’m not allowed to talk hahaha. I think I’m getting bronchitis. =[" and "About to start my meet and greet at the fam jam in Philidelphia!! =]. Still not feeling fabulous…but SO ready to rock.”

Meaghan sang five stars, including 2 Stars and You.

Meaghan’s next performance is July 25 at the Quick Chek Festival of Ballooning in New Jersey.

Meaghan Jette Martin hopped on MySpace to tell everyone that she finished high school yesterday!!

“So today I finished high school. DONE. completely and utterly finished. I walked into my school at 9:20 am and turned in my last packet of school work.”

Meaghan says it was a big moment, but she doesn’t know if she’s realized yet how big! “I always knew the day would come and I knew that it was coming soon… but it just seems so crazy to actually be there. I’m going to start college in January and I can easily say that I’m pretty scared out of my mind, but everyone around me has been very supportive and I think I’ll be able to manage.”

Another big moment happens for Meaghan today.

“It’s the first day of shooting the new ABC Family TV series I am on “10 Things I Hate About You”. I have been waiting for this day since January 31st when my phone rang and the writer/executive producer told me that the show was going to be turned into a series. Actually, I take that back, I have been waiting for this day since the moment I decided I wanted to be an actress. I am so pumped to be working with a cast that I adore on a show that I truly love. I am beyond excited to get started and even more stoked for you guys to get to be involved when the show airs July 7th at 8 pm (be sure to watch every Tuesday at 8 after that hehehehe).”

Meaghan Jette Martin and Anna Maria Perez De Tagle pose at the Lollipop Theatre Network’s Inaugural Game Day on Sunday afternoon!

The Camp Rock starlets showed up to the event, which helps the theater bring the magic of movies currently in theaters to children confined to hospitals nationwide due to chronic or life-threatening illnesses.

Also at the event were Samantha Droke, Debby Ryan, Zach Mills, Madison Pettis, Jennifer Stone, Brenda Song, and the Russo twins!

Meaghan Jette Martin stars in the upcoming 2009 family comedy film Dear Lemon Lima. The film follows Vanessa Lemor, a lonely 13-year old Yup’ik (Western Eskimo) girl with a vivid imagination, who is dumped by her true love, Philip Gregory. Vanessa spends the summer obsessing over her heartbreak before resolving to win him back at Nichols Academy, a close-minded preparatory school where his family is legacy.

Awarded the only minority scholarship, Vanessa’s new life is a nightmare. Back from the summer abroad and fluent in French, Philip is elevated to popular status, while Vanessa finds herself part of the “FUBARs” (a cruel acronym for those deemed F*cked Up Beyond All Recognition), along with Hercules, Samantha, and Nothing.

Vanessa believes that a victory in the Snowstorm Survivor championship is the only way back into Philip’s heart, so she leads TEAM FUBAR.

Along the way, Vanessa discovers the true meaning of love and must embrace her Native heritage to reclaim the spirit of the World Eskimo Indian Olympics.

SO-M sat down with Meaghan Jette Martin to talk about her upcoming projects!

First Acting Project: “Technically it would be the Barbie commercials I did when I was like five or six years old, but I don’t know if having a five year old play with Barbies is really acting!”

On 10 Things I Hate About You: “It’s going to be on ABC Family in July. We kind of take the same basic plot and the same basic characters as the movie, but we expand on things a lot more and switch things around a bit.”

On Camp Rock 2: “Tess is smart. Everything she does is mean and its manipulative, but it’s all with ulterior motives. I really hope Tess is funny in Camp Rock 2. I think she should all of a sudden be absolutely hilarious!”

On Her Music: “It’s intimidating to cover original Disney songs.”

Meaghan Jette Martin updated her MySpace blog to thank fans for their Happy Birthday wishes and to chat about her new show, 10 Things I hate About You! It will be airing on ABC Family this summer.

“First of all thank you, thank you, thank you to those of you who wished me a happy birthday! That is so unbelievably sweet and thoughtful of you. I had a great 17th birthday, I spent the day at Disneyland with most of my family and my best friend. It was rainy at first, but the rest of the day was absolutely beautiful. We rode 26 rides!! hahahahaha, we’re crazy, but it was truly great.

“Also, thank you to everyone for such positive feedback about the “When You Wish Upon A Star” music video, I’m glad that some of you enjoy it. If it can make just one person bop their head or tap their toes then I am an insanely happy human being.”

According to Meaghan’s Facebook, which is run by her sister, Meaghan got a baby puppy last month. “His name is Dobby, and we rescued him from a shelter here in LA. He’s so cute!!”
